Frequently asked questions
When should I read the Saraswati Chalisa?
Basant Panchami is Maa Saraswati's main festival, and reciting it that day is considered especially auspicious. Many students read it every morning before studying or during exam time. Some people also read it on Thursdays.
How should I recite the Saraswati Chalisa?
After bathing, light a lamp before the Mother's picture, offer white or yellow flowers, keep your books or instrument nearby, and recite calmly. It is a good custom to study or practise for a while afterwards.
Does the Saraswati Chalisa help with studies?
Devotees believe that reciting it with faith helps focus the mind and that the Mother's grace opens the intellect. It does not replace hard work, though — tradition says she helps those who learn with dedication.
