Verse 1

Jayati jai Gayatri Mata, jayati jai Gayatri Mata | Sat maarag par hamen chalao, jo hai sukhdata ||

Victory, victory to Mother Gayatri! Lead us on the true path, the path that brings real happiness.

Verse 2

Aadi shakti tum alakh niranjan, jag palan kartri | Dukh shok bhay klesh kalah, daridrya dainya hartri ||

You are the primal power, unseen and spotless, who sustains the world. You take away sorrow, grief, fear, distress, strife, poverty and helplessness.

Verse 3

Brahmarupini pranat palini, jagat dhatri Ambe | Bhav bhayhari jan hitkari, sukhda Jagdambe ||

O Mother, you are the form of Brahman, protector of those who bow to you, and upholder of the world. O Jagdambe, you remove the fear of worldly life, do good to all and give happiness.

Verse 4

Bhayharini bhavtarini anaghe, aj anand raashi | Avikari aghahari avichalit, amale avinashi ||

You remove fear, carry us across worldly life, are sinless, unborn and a treasure of bliss. You are changeless, the destroyer of sin, unshakeable, pure and eternal.

Verse 5

Kamdhenu sat chit ananda, jai Ganga Gita | Savita ki shashvati shakti, tum Savitri Sita ||

You are the wish-fulfilling cow, pure being, consciousness and bliss; you are the Ganga and the Gita. You are the eternal power of the Sun (Savita); you are Savitri and Sita.

Verse 6

Rig Yaju Saam Atharv pranayini, pranav mahamahime | Kundalini sahasrar sushumna, shobha gun garime ||

You are the source of the four Vedas — Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva — and the great glory of Om. You are the beauty of Kundalini, the Sahasrar and the Sushumna, the dignity of all virtues.

Verse 7

Swaha Swadha Shachi Brahmani, Radha Rudrani | Jai Satrupa Vani Vidya, Kamala Kalyani ||

You are Swaha, Swadha, Shachi, Brahmani, Radha and Rudrani. Victory to you — Shatarupa, Vani, Vidya, Kamala, the bringer of good.

Verse 8

Janani ham hain deen heen, dukh darid ke ghere | Yadapi kutil kapti kapoot, tau baalak hain tere ||

O Mother, we are poor and helpless, surrounded by sorrow and want. Even if we are crooked, deceitful and unworthy children, we are still your children.

Verse 9

Snehsani karunamayi Mata, charan sharan deejai | Bilakh rahe ham shishu sut tere, daya drishti keejai ||

O loving, compassionate Mother, give us shelter at your feet. Your little children are crying — look upon us with mercy.

Verse 10

Kaam krodh mad lobh dambh, durbhav dwesh hariye | Shuddh buddhi nishpaap hriday, man ko pavitra kariye ||

Take away our lust, anger, pride, greed, hypocrisy, ill-will and hatred. Give us a pure intellect and a sinless heart, and make our minds holy.

Verse 11

Tum samarth sab bhaanti tarini, tushti pushti trata | Sat maarag par hamen chalao, jo hai sukhdata ||

You are capable in every way, the one who carries us across, the protector who gives contentment and nourishment. Lead us on the true path that brings happiness.
